Registry-style ceremonies by civil celebrants, not a government registry office. No fuss, no frills, no wedding. Just paperwork.

Marriage Witness Service in Canberra

Need two adult witnesses for your paperwork-only marriage in Canberra? Here is how our witness service works.

Australian marriage law requires two witnesses aged 18 or over.

If you do not have your own witnesses, or you want to keep the marriage private and simple, we can help.

What the witness service is for

This service suits couples who:

  • are marrying privately
  • are travelling
  • do not have local family or friends available
  • simply want the easiest option

What the witnesses do

The witnesses attend the ceremony and sign the marriage documents.

They do not run the ceremony. They are there for the legal signing.

Cost

Our witness service is an optional extra and is currently $130 inc GST.

How to add it

You can request witness help when you book through Get Married, or ask us before the ceremony if there is enough notice.
